[evan Adam ]

Why is it important?

Over the years, indigenous people around Canada suffer a greater percentage of serious health issues than the rest of the population. Many people died of diabetes and heart disease and many more diagnosed with mental illness. Adam plays a vital role in the education system for Indigenous communities. As the first Aboriginal health physician advisor in the Office of the Provincial Health Officer in British Columbia, he provided independent direction on First Nations and Aboriginal health issues to the Ministry of Health. He raises awareness about the health issues affecting the general population and sets out a path for the improvement of First Nations and Aboriginal health and wellness.
