Abdou Moumouni Dioffo

Who is he?

Born june 26,1926 in Tessaoua( Niger), Abdou Moumouni is one of the most famous indigenous intellectuals in the Africa, particularly in Niger. First he is a specialists in solar energy and collaborate so much to improve the condition of the population of Niger. Throughout his career teacher and researcher, his goal is to serve his community without any expectation. Unfortunally, he passed away April 7, 1991 in Niamey (Niger)

Formation and professional career

After his brilliant school studies in Niger at the end of 1944, he attended École Normal William Potty(Senegal) before continue in Lycée Saint Louis in Paris(France) at 1949. He garduate successively of bachelor, graduate, agregation, state doctorat in science physics. He is a member of the fedaration of black Africa student in france (FEANF) and African interdependance party (AIP).

For his career, he was first teacher in five different school. As a reseacher, he created a solar energy laboratory in Mali and headed the solor energy of Niger (ONERSOL). He was also a rector and professor in the big university of Niger which hold his name . He wrote also two book: Education in Africa and Solar Energy in Africa's Countries.


His service of the humanity

Abdou Moumouni put his creativity to the service of his community. The third part of the country Niger belongs to the Sahara, he fight a lot for the protection of the environment and desertification, improve the socialisation between the rural and urbain community. Abdou Moumouni inspired a lot the young generation to appreciate science. He contributed to minimize the cost of electricity and to provide some family to access to solar energy.
