Buffy Sainte-Marie:

Buffy Sainte-Marie was born on Piapot Cree First nation reserved in Qu'Appelle valley in Saskatchewan of Canada. After her parents death, she was raised by one of her relatives. She was very young when she start teaching herself musical instrument. Later on she moved to New York to become a songwriter although she studied Oriental Philosophy in university of Massachusetts. First, she began performing in Greenwich village, coffee houses, concert venues and anit-Vietnam war movement. Until now, she produced over 20 albums and received many awards such as Golden Globe, BAFTA, and award for co writing the hit song such as "Up where we belong"

Buffy Marie appeared in televisions and films for the purpose of presenting issues related to indigenous peoples. For example, in NBC TV series The Virginian, she claimed that indigenous actors be cast in the indigenous parts and she win her campaign. In addition, she created the Philanthropic non-profit fund Nihewan foundation for Native American Education and the Cradleboard teaching project.

Her albums have many fans and some of her songs are covered by other musicians such as Neil Diamond. She is a source of inspiration for new generation of music and particularly Indigenous and female artists. Some of her popular Albums are listed below.
