Victoria LaBillois
Short Biography
Victoria LaBillois is one of Canada's most influential women, owning Wejipeg Excavation Inc which she started in 2011 and co-owning and president of ejuseg Construction Inc. She is an extremenly succesfull entrepreneur who achieved great succes in both the contruction industry and real estate industry.
This Mi’gmaq woman has been an entrepeneur for a long time. It started in the 1990's with her selling her own brand of T-shirts and later selling wallets, purses and more. This eventually led to her being able to afford her first building and making her entrance into the real estate business. Later she started in the construction business. She did all this where she was born, Miꞌkmaq Nation.
Her work
Besides being a succesfull entrepreneur LaBillois is also an active and influential woman. In both 2019 and 2020 she was in the top 100 of most influential women in Canada. This is not only because of how she formes a huge inspiration to both women and indigenous peoples. With her business succeses she already made a name for herselve however this is not the reasons why she is for me such an inspiration to all of us.
Besides running two businesses and managing privately owned real estate she is and has been part of numberous proffesional boards promoting and helping indigenous peoples and women to achieve succes in the business world. One of the boards she is part is National Indigenous Economic Development Board. This board in particular focusses on how the indiginous economy in Canada can grow. In this she also wants to increase the number of indigenous people in high end jobs accros Canada. This shows me how even when she achieves so much succes she still remembers where she came from. A lot of her business choices are made based on improving her local community, the time she has left she spends on doing good for others, close to her and far away from her.
