Andy Everson

  1. No Pipelines

  2. Idle No More

This is what Everson had to say about one of this popular prints "Idle No More" : "Motivated by the prospect of several awful omnibus bills being pushed through Canadian parliament, the Idle No More movement was created as a way to demonstrate that Indigenous peoples would no longer stand idly by."

And this is what he said about "No Pipelines" - "Say "No" to the Enbridge pipeline that purports to travel through unceded First Nations territory! Black represents the oil, red represents the blood of our people...."

Andy Everson - Nagedzi

Andy Everson is an Artist born in the Komox Nation in Centeral-west Vancouver Island. Everson is both Komox and Kwakwaka'wakw. He is a very active member of the community and in his early years as an artist created chilitak blankets for potlatches. He studied Anthropology at UBC and created the Canoe Company Inc. which used art as a medium to preserve Indigenous langauges (naimly lik'wala and other Coast Salish dialects). He has been part of dozens of cultural events around the globe to share his West Coast art and culture. His artwork has been engraved on coins by the Royal Canadian Mint. Everson was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubliee Medal for his art piece entitled "Remembrance" for Indigenous veterans.

One of Everson's passions is Star Wars (like me) so a lot of his artwork that is sold in the Komoks long house shop is different Star Wars characters designed with traditional Coast Salish patterns.
