Artist Statement/Bio

Roxanne Lorch is an award-winning fine artist who paints and exhibits in various media. She is known for pastel portraits of individuals, animals and figurative pieces. She is also a plein-air artist working in pen, ink, and watercolor interpreting the urban scene. Expressive line quality is inherent in her art, stemming from a graphics and design background. Whenever possible, she prefers working directly from life.

Before relocating to the Raleigh Triangle in 2010 from her native Manhattan, she was a successful design and business professional in graphics and the Commercial Interiors Industries. With a BFA degree from Boston University College of Fine Arts, and graduate studies in New York City, her projects ranged from corporate and hotels to museums and department stores. Roxanne left the design world for Fine Arts in 2001.

She has been exhibiting steadily since 2007 in New York City and North Carolina. Her most recent award was winning honors at the Fine Arts League of Cary’s annual juried show in 2019.

Past secretary of the Pastel Society of North Carolina and current member (PSNC), Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC), Paint NC, artist member of Artspace in Raleigh, and International Urban Sketchers Group of Raleigh, Roxanne is a lifetime member of The Art Students League of New York. In 2017 she was awarded membership into the honorary Pastel Society of America as Associate Member.

With her art in private collections nationally, Roxanne accepts commissions for portraits of people, animals, and landscapes. Her studio is located in Durham’s Artists of the Warehouse/Golden Belt at 800 Taylor Street. She is represented by Bull City Gallery in Durham, NC.
