Artist Statement/Bio
I enjoy painting landscapes of the sky, beach, and marsh drawn from my favorite places. My work also explores my interests in historic preservation and modern architecture. Combining my background in history and city planning, I am interested in how our built and natural environment shapes us. I like to experiment with abstractions from nature and buildings in my work. The subjects I select for my paintings express my personal experiences of the architecture and the landscape of places I value.
I am a member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina and the Fine Arts League of Cary. I have participated in juried and member exhibitions sponsored by those organizations since 2009. In addition, my work has been in juried exhibitions at the Cary Gallery of Art, the Village Art Circle, and the Hillsborough Gallery of Art.
