Artist Statement/Bio
Luana Luconi Winner is a founding member of the Portrait Society of America, elected Master Circle member of the International Association of Pastel Societies, Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Signature Member, past president, and honorary lifetime member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society, a Juried Member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta, North Carolina Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America, , and an active member of several other art boards and national art organizations.
Portrait artist, author, lecturer, judge, and favored instructor, Mrs. Winner was educated in Rome and Florence, Italy, Switzerland, and the USA. Her portraits of CEOs, Banking Founders, Chancellors, Administrators, Government Officials, Military Officers, Debutantes, and families hang in corporations, universities, government buildings, museums, and residences stateside and abroad.
Luana was guest instructor for the international pastel exhibition “Pastel en Perigord,” France, worked in Spain, and then followed with a two-person exhibition in Tuscany, Italy. She was part of the first Chinese Pastel Festival of China at the Ming Art Gallery in Suzhou, China and traveled as part of a cultural exchange of art instructors.
Her book “Painting Classic Portraits: Great Faces Step-by-Step” in English, and later also in Chinese, is a textbook for drawing and painting faces published/distributed worldwide by F+W Media Publishers, North Light Books.
