Genesis

24 x 36 Pastel on Pastelbord

This painting represents a scene I have witnessed many times in the coastal areas of the Carolinas. I am drawn to the beauty of the clouds and the ever-changing quality of light and the colors of the wind-swept marshes. The title of this work reflects the purest form of nature - the potential of raw, beautiful energy untouched by the effects of man and civilization.

Edge of Awareness

26 x 23 framed. Pastel on UART 400 Pastel Paper

I have ventured out and sat on the edge of this rock quite a few times. It is high up above the forest below and at first, a little frightening. But gradually, it becomes very peaceful. From the shadows of the forest to the distant mountains, I am filled with the awe, wonder and majesty of life. It engenders an awareness of being a part of something bigger than myself.
