Student Support - A Safe and Supportive Environment

The Student Support team consists of the Secondary School Counselor, EAL (English as an Additional Language) teachers, Learning Support teacher, Student Support teaching assistant and is led by the Student Support Coordinator.

The Counselor supports the social and emotional learning and wellbeing of all our students and staff. The counselor creates the advisory programme and organises assemblies. In addition, the Counselor also provides career and university counseling for our high school students. In addition, the Counselor also works with students as they join or leave our school in order to help them transition well.

The Learning Support team ensures access for all to rigorous content, an enriching curriculum and meaningful learning experiences. The Learning Support team works closely with students, teachers, parents and administrators to provide ongoing support in creating equitable learning opportunities for all.

The EAL teachers teach the English Acquisition classes for our English language learners. They also support the academic English language development of all our learners through co-teaching. The EAL teachers also regularly monitor, track and report on the English language development of our multilingual learners.

As a school, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all our students.

Through the advisory programme, which focuses on building strong relationships between a small group of students with their advisory teacher, we aim to give every student the opportunity to connect with a trusted adult at school. The advisory teacher acts as an advocate for each student in their advisory. And, as such, the advisory teacher should always be the first point of call when challenges arise for a student. As parents, your first point of contact for general questions or concerns should also be your child’s advisory teacher.

When dealing with disciplinary issues, we follow a "positive discipline" approach at Panyaden. Positive discipline:

  • Is kind and firm.

  • Help students feel a sense of belonging and significance.

  • Is effective long-term.

  • Teaches valuable social and life skills.

  • Helps students develop a sense of being capable.
