Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird (2017) is a coming-of-age film that follows the hilarity and tribulations of Lady Bird McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) as she navigates the beginning of the end of her time in high school. In the midst of her soul searching as she prepares to go to New York University, she attempts to seek closure from her mother Marion ( Laurie Metcalf), prioritizing her friendship with her best friend Julie (Beanie Feldstein) as well as sorting things out with her flame, Kyle. (Timothee Chalamet).


Two Thumbs Up!

The film was generally well-received. Lady Bird grossed $49 million in the United States and Canada, and $30 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $79 million. In regards to critical acclaim, it received various awards but notably, a Golden Globe. All of this aided by critical acclaim cemented this indie darling as a blockbuster. Its cultural impact was perhaps the most defining result of the films' release. For Saoirse and Timothee, this catapulted them further into stardom & would see that they'd be Hollywood and pop culture staples.A24's consistency in quality film development saw them receiving awards for the stunning cinematography throughout.
