The societal construct of gender has developed from the rigid idea of "boy or girl". Now people define their gender in a multitude of ways, at least 57 to be exact. The most common misconception with gender is that it is tied to sex. One's gender identity is one’s innermost concept of self as masculine, feminine, or a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves.
