I was thrilled when I was invited to become a ONE Community Leader. It was an endorsement of everything I have done in my life from an organisation I had supported over many years. 

I have been an activist all my life, brought up to admire the first leaders of newly dependent former colonies, to boycott apartheid South Africa, it was part of my DNA to campaign for political and economic justice around the world. I have campaigned for justice and an end to poverty and for real equality in Latin America, India and Africa. 

The latter part of my life has focused on West Africa where I initiated programmes with other local NGOs to empower girls, improve early years education and to enable economic development that empowers and enriched Africans and not foreign investors. 

Supporting the objectives of ONE is second nature and I am proud to have become involved in its campaigns.
