About Ayo

In an effort to reduce unemployment among Nigerian youths and provide older adults with access to quality and affordable healthcare in Nigeria, thereby supporting Goals 3 and 8 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, I have had the privilege of training and employing over 5,000 passionate and dedicated youths in the noble field of caring for older persons. Post-training, we have employed over 300 youths to take care of older adults with reasonable pay.

As the Executive Director of PIPO GLOBAL Caregivers Limited since November 2017, Our comprehensive programs address the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults, improving their quality of life, as well as creating healthy employments for Nigerian youths and fostering education through trainings and advocacy. By making these services accessible and affordable, we have positively impacted countless lives, promoting healthy aging and a more inclusive society.

Campaigns and Activities

In my capacity as the Deputy Campaign Coordinator for the Not Too Young to Run Bill in Oyo State, I have been actively involved in advocating for a legislative amendment aimed at lowering the minimum age requirements for individuals aspiring to run for presidential and gubernatorial positions. This legislative initiative seeks to reduce the age threshold from 45 years, as stipulated in the 1999 constitution, to 30 years, thereby affording young individuals the opportunity to participate in the electoral process as candidates. Having started in May 2016, our campaign diligently persisted until achieving a significant milestone on May 31, 2018, when the President officially signed the bill into law.

During my tenure as the Country Director and Model UN Advisor (2018-2021) for the International Youth Diplomacy Conference in Accra, I successfully mobilised 1,000 young changemakers, played a crucial role in planning and effective communication, coordinated logistics, accommodations, and transportation, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for all delegates, and ensured a successful and impactful event. I coordinated the training programme that enabled the delegates to become effective diplomats through meticulous planning. Through interactive workshops, United Nations simulations, and committee meetings, I facilitated collaborative learning and skill development by cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment. I motivated and inspired the delegates to realise their potential as future leaders, fostering mutual comprehension and global cooperation by setting an exemplary example. Due to my leadership, the conference in Accra was a resounding success, empowering youthful minds, igniting passion, and establishing a platform for change.

Why do you want to volunteer with ONE?

My decision to campaign with ONE is driven by values, beliefs, and desire to make a positive impact in the world.

ONE's mission to eradicate extreme poverty and preventable diseases clearly aligns with my work through the years. As a champion of these causes since November 2017, I have demonstrated advocacy towards related projects/activities, one of which was the recent advocacy outreach I led in Ibadan, Nigeria in July 2023, involving the Oyo state House of Assembly on measures to eradicate preventable diseases among market people in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.

Campaigning with ONE will be a great platform to contribute my experience towards achieving its mission and to meet local and international changemakers campaigning with ONE. It will also avail me the privilege to gain professional training in grassroot advocacy that affect government and global policies, to develop practical skills in the UK Parliament, campaigning for change, media, social media and policy, as well as give me the opportunity to engage with MPs, policy-makers and people in positions of power.
