Bulgarian folklore singer

Valya Balkanska is a Bulgarian folklore singer from the Rodope folklore region. She is mostly famous with her performance of the song "Izlel e Delu haidutin" which is on the Golden plate of the Voyager. The record of the song is made in the end of the sixties of the 20th century by an American researcher of the Bulgarian folklore Martin Kyoning and it is given to the USA. Later this plate is given to NASA for the Voyager programme and it is sent to space among many other songs. In 2002 she was given the highest prize for a Bulgarian singer the medal "Stara planina". In 2005 she was given her own star plate on the Bulgarian walk of Fame.
