Hélène Dutrieu was born in 1877 and is the daughter of a military officer. She had a normal shield hoof but took a big turn at the age of 14. Normal kids went to work. But she had other plans. Hélène and her brother started cycling and turned out she was really good at it. In 1897 and 1898 she got the world record. After a while, she started doing stunts on her bike. Then on a motorcycle and finally in a car. When she was in the hospital, caused by a stunt accident, she had a lot of time to think about a career change. She became the first Belgian female pilot. She had 8 world records on her name. Like: the first female to fly long distance, the first female to fly with a passenger,... In the end, Hélène died in Paris at the age of 84. She had an amazing, extraordinary life, which made her so appreciated.
