Emilie was raised Catholic but turned her back to that because she didn't agree with their terms, especially those about women. She worked as a maid and spinster in a factory. She noticed that women were paid less than men. She also had 2 adulterated children because she couldn’t marry the father. He was on another level in society. Lateron Emilie became chairwoman of a propagandaclub for women where she fought for equal work and that women could be financially independent. She also founded the women's union where she still fought for equal rights but also handed out brochures. She made a monthly magazine where she talked about subjects like birth control and contraceptives. What was seen as illegal literature by the church
