João Lobo Antunes, also known as the prince of medicine, was a portuguese neurosurgeon. He had an unique personality and some would say he was a visionary.
He was the first surgeon to put a device on a blind man’s eye, his research was focused on the hypothalamus and the hypophysis.
Besides being a surgeon, he was elected president for the scientific council of the faculty of medicine, the European Neurosurgery society and was also vice president of the World Federation of Neurosurgical societies.
Lobo Antunes wrote four books and more than 150 scientific articles.
He received a lot of awards based on his performance.
