As an undergraduate, the plan was to go to medical school. Upon graduating I wanted to take some time off from being a student and I got a gig teaching math and science at a public high school in California. Twenty years of classroom experience later and I am thoroughly convinced that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I am lucky to be in a profession, both as a teacher and coach, where my purpose is to shepherd students and athletes to accomplish more than they thought they were capable of doing. While medical school was not my fate, I did earn a Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology several years back.
In my spare time I like to get to the high country as often as possible. But, I would settle for waterfall hike on any weekend, at anytime in the year. I like the sun and the rain equally. Mountains or ocean would be a toss up too.
