Maggie Gilbride began learning Chinese as a 9th grade student at Breck School, an Episcopal school in Golden Valley, Minnesota. She has a BA from the University of Oregon, majoring in Mandarin Chinese, International Education, and Asian Studies. As a Chinese Flagship Program scholar, Maggie spent a year in Nanjing, China, where she first got the opportunity to teach Chinese as a foreign language. She has her MEd from the UO Teach Program and is licensed to teach Mandarin Chinese and English to Speakers of Other Languages. In addition to Chinese, she has also taught several elective courses including life skills, comparative religions, current events and hand sewing. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys biking, baking, camping and sewing.
