I've been teaching English for over 20 years, working in both public and independent schools. In addition to teaching, I've been a dorm parent, coach, tutor, college counselor, Dean of Student Life, and Grade Dean. I have two kids of my own, one of whom graduated from OES last year and one who is a senior. They inspire me to work hard and be fair to my students. As an English teacher, I am particularly interested in literary journalism and how that mode of writing enhances and shapes our understanding of our world. I love working with kids and I'm excited to start another year.
I hail from Michigan and have lived in Oregon for over 15 years. The outdoors, traveling, cooking, family, and exercise keep me grounded and focused. I'm also an avid fan of cooking, reading The New Yorker and listening to XRAY fm radio (107.1 on your dial). Music in its many forms inspires me and keeps me moving...
