“Teaching is in your blood," said my father when I was in high school. I had already been coaching, tutoring, and making my little brother and his friends sit in front of the chalkboard in our playroom so that I could help them with their math homework. Of course, at that point in my life, I wanted to be a pilot or a lawyer. After graduating from college with a degree in History and Spanish, it became clear that my dad was right, and I began teaching Spanish, coaching swimming, and organizing language exchange programs. I have lived in Spain (junior year abroad), Costa Rica (teacher exchange), Ecuador (World Teach volunteer) and Mexico (faculty advisor for Willamette University study abroad program) for extended periods of time; I love to travel! I studied Latin American History, Art and Literature in graduate school and love teaching all levels of Spanish. A perfect day for me includes: a long run or swim in the morning, reading my New York Times, working on an art project while listening to a book on Audible, and any time spent hiking and sharing a meal with my three boys, my husband, and my yellow lab, Molly.
