I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, a city with rolling hills and lots of rivers. I was fascinated with the many bridges of the city, and unsurprisingly I went to college and studied Civil Engineering with the intent of one day designing my own bridge. I continued my studies in civil engineering in graduate school, but my focus turned from structural to water resources engineering. I practiced as a Water Resources Engineer in Boulder, CO for a few years before deciding to pursue my secondary mathematics teaching credential.
Teaching is my passion and I have been fortunate in my teaching career to work with students from the age of 6 through the age of 19, in both public and private school settings. Over the past few years, I have been teaching all levels of math in the Upper School. This year, my eleventh year at OES, I will continue in my role as the Assistant Head of Upper School for Academics and I will teach a new entry level coding class.
Outside of class, I spend my time running, playing soccer, coaching soccer, hiking, skiing, reading, and keeping up with my three kids.
Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it. --Marian Wright Edelman
