Beck Dorey-Stein taught high school English in New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Seoul, South Korea before serving as a White House stenographer from 2012 to 2017. While visiting more than fifty countries with President Obama, Dorey-Stein was referred to as “the teacher” on Air Force One for her background in English literature and backpack full of novels. Her unique experience at the White House culminated in her memoir, From the Corner of the Oval, which was an instant New York Times bestseller and has been translated into ten languages and optioned for television since its publication in 2018. More recently, Beck has moved to Maine, rescued a hound puppy named Billy, and continued to pursue her passion for writing. Her first novel, Rock the Boat, will debut in June of 2021.
