I grew up in Los Angeles, California, and I remember clearly my first interaction with the Spanish language, when in Kindergarten we learned to pronounce the true name of our city, "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río Porciúncula" ~ how magical it was to learn to speak in a second language! My love for language led me to major in Spanish in college, to spend a year at the University of Madrid, to study in Mexico, and ultimately to land in classrooms where I was able to share the Spanish language and culture with young people. In my many years of teaching, I have taught students from 1st to 12th grades, from the very beginners to the older students at the Advanced Placement levels. This year I am teaching Spanish III as well as coordinating the Activity Program. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with family (especially my grandson!), reading, exploring art, and hiking the wooded trails around my house.
