Autism Resource Site

Tools, Strategies, and Resources aligned to the framework of Applied Educational Neuroscience, with an emphasis on Adversity and Trauma

Compiled by Jessica Reamon, Autism Consultant at NWRESD
**Note: This site is in progress and is constantly being added to as new resources and research are discovered!

This Resource Site is devoted to sharing resources, materials, and strategies that are neuroscience-aligned, neurodiversity-affirming, and strengths-based. So often, we attempt to support our ASD students without first learning from those we're serving, but who better to learn from in order to best serve than those who experience ASD on a daily basis? This site is devoted to utilizing autistic voices in serving students on the spectrum. Watch the video to learn more about the importance of using autistic perspectives in serving our students.

"Nothing about us, without us."

As you utilize this site, you will notice that the resources, strategies, and tools shared are aligned to the Applied Educational Neuroscience framework, with an emphasis on adversity and trauma. The four pillars of this framework are explained below in a video made by Dr. Lori Desautels, and the visuals following outline the pillars and give further explanation of the interconnectedness of each. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disability, and it is important to develop a greater understanding of neuroscience and the nervous system as we approach and teach our students on the spectrum. We are learning more about the impacts of being autistic in a world created by and for neurotypicals, and the stress it can cause on the autistic brain. This site is devoted to educating and informing educators, parents, and anyone who serves our autistic population.
