OBOS STEM Challenges K-2 and 3-5
K-2
STEM kits for OBOS will be in your mailboxes; feel free to do the STEM Challenge when convenient for you the week of the 18th. In addition, a copy of the lesson plan and some supplemental resources that align with the STEM challenge will be provided. You have enough materials to make two types of windmills. Test them out and see which design works best, etc.
You can structure this as a possible center or have students work in 4 groups to construct the windmills with adult support. Have fun with this, and don't stress.
A model of the k-2 is available in the office for viewing and is shown left.
3-5
STEM kits for OBOS will be in your mailboxes; feel free to do the STEM Challenge when convenient for you the week of the 18th. In addition, a copy of the lesson plan and some supplemental resources that align with the STEM challenge will be provided. You have enough materials to make one windmill as a class. Once constructed, students can test it and see how it can be utilized. Students can discuss potential modifications and improve upon the design if they want.
