Winter Parent-Teacher conferences in elementary schools will begin on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, and continue through Thursday, March 28, 2024. The evening conference for all schools will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Teachers must stay on March 14 until the official end time. On March 21, teachers can leave 15 minutes after the students because all staff must return for conferences from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Parents will have the flexibility to schedule either virtual or in-person conferences.
Sign up for Translation if needed ASAP: Conference Translation
At conferences please remind parents of the importance of school attendance.
Here is the script the office uses when calling families (feel free to use with parents at conferences):
"Research shows that once a child’s attendance in school falls below 90%, it is correlated with learning loss and is considered to be “chronically absent.” Even “excused absences” fall into the calculation of this percentage.
Only certain students get this line too (Your child receives SRBI/SPED services when they are not present in school, they are unable to receive these academic services to support their learning).
Please let us know if you need assistance to support your child’s attendance."
The RAA schedule is still evolving:
As of right now (3:10pm Thursday) EVERY CLASS has two readers
We still have readers who are going to get back to me
Some classes will have 3 readers - everyone loves Tracey ;)
I am being mindful of class schedules, schedules I am given from readers and walkthrough schedules for this day
Enjoy the day - It Is always a hit!

SHOUT OUT to the Kindergarten and 5th Grade Teams for their hard work establishing differentiated math interventions across the grade level! Students were engaged and focused in this new practice and routine. We look forward to seeing the impact and growth of our students in Math.
I will push in during science blocks to support instruction and gauge student readiness. If you would like a model lesson or to co-teach a lesson, please reach out to me so we can collaborate.

Mrs. Grinnell's class used a Closed Fish Bowl Instructional Strategy during Science! Students were heavily engaged and did the majority of the talking. Students completed an "I Wonder, and I Notice" chart around some phenomena, looking at how sound waves are used in nature and human inventions. We then had students form a Closed Fish Bowl in the center of the classroom while observers took notes on the conversation, recording anything that resonated with them. They needed to record the student's name and statement expressed by the student. These "Observers" then shared the statements that resonated with them with the collective group. This is another excellent way to get students to do the talking and learn to listen to one another! Nicely done, Mrs. Grinnell's Class!
