Grade 3-5 Classroom teachers please set aside a 30-minute slot for your students to complete
All teachers and staff also need to take the survey between March 11-28th
Certified Staff will take the survey during our staff meeting on Monday, March 18th
Please see this link with directions for the survey for staff and students: Panorama Survey Directions
Please share this link with your families, it has directions on how families can complete the survey: Panorama Survey Parent Directions
At conferences please remind parents of the importance of school attendance.
Here is the script the office uses when calling families (feel free to use with parents at conferences):
"Research shows that once a child’s attendance in school falls below 90%, it is correlated with learning loss and is considered to be “chronically absent.” Even “excused absences” fall into the calculation of this percentage.
Only certain students get this line too (Your child receives SRBI/SPED services when they are not present in school, they are unable to receive these academic services to support their learning).
Please let us know if you need assistance to support your child’s attendance."
3/21 Cub Connection Activity
Read to your Cub Connection (if appropriate), and then have students write a wish for the future on wind flags. Be creative with these wishes. They can be wishes for themselves, our community, wishes of hope or perseverance to William. Sky is the limit. Kits and directions will be provided to you!
The Idea of Wish Flags came from Prayer Flags that are often hung up across mountain peaks. They are NOT religious In nature, but rather promote messages and representations of peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. Feel free to share this Idea and pictures of prayer flags.

OBOS STEM Challenges K-2 and 3-5
K-2
STEM kits for OBOS will be in your mailboxes; feel free to do the STEM Challenge when convenient for you the week of the 18th. In addition, a copy of the lesson plan and some supplemental resources that align with the STEM challenge will be provided. You have enough materials to make two types of windmills. Test them out and see which design works best, etc.
You can structure this as a possible center or have students work in 4 groups to construct the windmills with adult support. Have fun with this, and don't stress.
A model of the k-2 is available in the office for viewing and is shown left.
3-5
STEM kits for OBOS will be in your mailboxes; feel free to do the STEM Challenge when convenient for you the week of the 18th. In addition, a copy of the lesson plan and some supplemental resources that align with the STEM challenge will be provided. You have enough materials to make one windmill as a class. Once constructed, students can test it and see how it can be utilized. Students can discuss potential modifications and improve upon the design if they want.
