See the flyer for all of the details!

We invite all new students (new to NISD, Wilson, in-person learning) to join us Friday, August 13th for tours, schedule pick up, photos, and more.

Parking is available in both the front and back of the building. Students can attend with or without an adult.

Returning students have the option to join, but we understand that they are more familiar with the campus and may be comfortable waiting until the 1st day of school, Wednesday, August 18th.

Resources

STUDENT resources for This summer and 2021-2022

Northwest ISD offers a variety of summer opportunities so students can stay engaged and keep learning while school is out.

Research shows that as much as two months of math and reading skills can be lost during summer break. But it only takes a couple of hours a week of learning for students to avoid the summer slide. We encourage students to continue to read books and take advantage of the break to explore their interests and learn something new!

Visit www.nisdtx.org/summer for a list of opportunities available this summer for elementary and secondary students, including creative problem-solving camps, athletic camps, fine arts camps, summer reading and more.

Plus, you can take your kids on a virtual vacation through the Learning That Takes You Places site. Students get to virtually explore a variety of cultures and locations around the world by reading, discussing, writing, reflecting and extending their learning, all while incorporating aspects of STEM, CTE, athletics and fine arts.

academics

Students have worked hard all year to make progress in specific areas.

Here are some resources and ideas to help keep skills sharp!

English Language Arts: READ READ READ. The best thing you can do this summer for ELA skills is to read at least one choice book! Reading often helps improve your vocabulary and maintain your stamina. Build up how long you can read without interruption or checking a device! Goal: 20 minutes at a time!

See below for suggestions for grade level books.

Click through these slides to find out all kinds of things about the library, checking out books from home, etc!
