September 14th - 18th

  • Big Week Ahead

  • Families,

  • As we prepare for the transition for our staff and some students to be back at the building next week, there are several resources and events to note in this week's newsletter.

  • This Friday is currently our last day of whole campus remote learning. We will wrap up this season with the morning online "live" with Zoom video conferences and the afternoon online with Moodle assignments. Progress reports will also be sent home next week, so this is a great week to finish strong. Parents and guardians, this is also a great week to look in the Home Access Center for any missing assignments, and direct your student to their teacher for any additional support needed. THANK YOU for all of your support!

  • As we close out this season, do you have some memorable pictures of your remote learning experience? Families, our yearbook needs YOU! Submit your Remote Learning photos for consideration at this link. Our yearbook staff would love to document our 2020 start, so send in those pictures of your Wilson Wildcat. Ideas: first day of school, cool desk set ups, creative learning spaces, etc.

  • For the rest of the year, you will see information for "Remote Learners" and "In Person Learners". Some of our Wildcat students (about 239) are staying remote, and about 720 are returning to the building with staff beginning next Monday. Athletics is also beginning on-campus practices before and after school this week. Please read below for information that applies to your learning preference, and note two evening opportunities this week (see calendar below) for parents/guardians to learn more.

  • Friday's advisory lesson (9:30 am) for students will also have additional information for each learning group.

  • Thank you for taking the time to stay connected and noting the information below!

Tuesday, 9/8: Fall Athletics Begins

Beginning September 8, fall athletics will begin practicing at the building.

  • Football Practice

  • Volleyball Tryouts

  • Tennis Tryouts

  • Cross Country Practice

Details about times and procedures for football, volleyball, and tennis were emailed by the coaches to all students scheduled in an athletics period. Athletics COVID-19 FAQs

  • Cross country is a sport that does not require an athletics period for participation. Any 7th or 8th grader can participate. Please email Coach Maurice Rhinehart at maurice.rhinehart@nisdtx.org if your child would like to participate in cross country.

If you child wants to try out for a sport and does not have an athletic period, please email Coach Mapes (girls and boys tennis) at mmapes@nisdtx.org, Coach Erb (football) at derb@nisdtx.org, or Coach North (volleyball) at knorth@nisdtx.org.

Friday, 9/11: Schedule Update

On Friday, Sept. 11, NISD teachers will spend the afternoon on campus preparing for In-Person Learning. Students will engage in learning with their teachers the morning of September 11 (as we have been doing on a daily basis). After lunch, students will have asynchronous independent work for their afternoon classes meaning there will be no scheduled Zooms for students on the afternoon of Friday, September 11. Attendance will be taken each class following our current attendance practices, and students will be expected to access their work for the afternoon on Moodle. During this time, we will be making sure all safety protocols are in place and have been practiced by all staff members.

Friday 9/11 at a Glance

  • 9:30 am Advisory Video Conference via Zoom

  • 10 am 2nd period Video Conference via Zoom
