Congratulations to all of our Wilson Art students that competed in the Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event last weekend! Out of almost 600 regional entries, judged by high school and college art professionals, Wilson had twelve students receive recognition.

6th graders: June Arnold, Katelyn Frost, Jessica Church

7th graders: Harper Campbell, Rebecca Ramirez

8th graders: Sarah Boaz, Kendyl Canfield, Alejandra Estrada, Bella Inglis, Kenzi Meiergerd, and Carissa Witte

One of our WMS students received the highest honor and award, the prestigious “Regional Platinum Medal”. It is awarded to the top 10% of entries, and winning that honor is 6th grader, Katelyn Frost. Her art will be advancing on to the next level. Congratulations, Katelyn!

Wrapping Up The Year

Week of May 17th

STAAR Assessments

  • Bring charged chromebook, snack, water, and, if desired, a sack lunch.

  • Free sack lunches will be provided for testers or students can bring their own lunch (no microwaves). They will be eating lunch in the classroom during a break in testing.

  • Remote learners can check in the front office at 8:40 am for their respective STAAR exams, and they will wait in the library until released to their assigned testing rooms. They will be testing in the classroom with in-person learners, with all NISD Health and Safety Procedures being followed, including masks. They will be released after testing to the front office at 2 pm. This is later than the past due to the embedded lunch during the testing period.

  • Testers will remain in their testing room until all exams are complete, and if testing is completed earlier, remote learners who are car riders will wait in the library until a parent arrives for pick up.

  • Make up exams will be Friday, May 21.
