Remote Learner Resources 2020-2021

Due Dates for Remote Learners

The C&I Team has work out the following timeline for all remote classes for the End of the Year:

· Wednesday, May 26 (11:59 PM) Edgenuity Courses Close

· Thursday, May 27 (11:59 PM) Moodle Assignment for attendance submitted before 11:59 PM

· Friday, May 28 (11:59 PM) Moodle Assignment for attendance submitted before 12:50 PM

So, remote attendance will not have all day/evening to submit attendance on Friday. Students will need to submit their Moodle attendance by the in-person deadline of 12:50 early release.

Upcoming STAAR Dates (see graphic below)

Remote learners can check in the front office at 8:40 am for their respective STAAR exams, and they will wait in the library until released to their assigned testing rooms. They will be testing in the classroom with in-person learners, with all NISD Health and Safety Procedures being followed, including masks.

Students can bring a snack and water, and lunch will be provided. We suggest bringing a book as well if students complete their test before the entire room is complete.

Students will be released after all testing is complete to the front office for dismissal at approximately 2 pm. Students can walk or ride their bikes home from testing, if desired.

Social and Emotional Health

The challenges of Covid-19 and remote learning have brought on a wide range of emotions for all of us. Supporting our students social and emotional needs is more important now than ever. Wilson counselors are available for individual and group Zoom sessions to support remote learners. If you feel this would be beneficial for your student, please reach out to their grade level counselor.

Campus Notification of Discontinuation of Remote Learning for Some Students

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently provided school districts across the state with additional guidance for Remote Learning. Students who are not being successful in Remote Learning based on grades and/or attendance are at significant risk of severe learning loss. Based on the new guidelines from TEA, school districts can require students who are struggling academically and/or with attendance to return to In-Person Learning. Caregivers for students who meet the criteria outlined by TEA will receive written notification from their child’s school two weeks prior to the date they will be required to return to In-Person Learning. This written notice will also include an appeal process.
