PTA Needs You

Our community truly is better together, so thank you again for your involvement and support of our Wilson PTA as we plan for awesome middle school experiences for our students!

Next Meeting: Monday, April 11th, 6:30 pm Library, including Board Elections and a Question and Answer Session with Principal Mrs. Childress

As some of our 8th grade families move on to high school next year, we have a few open board positions for next school year. Our group is already planning for August, and we would love to have as many families involved from Day One! Let us know what you love to support, including leadership spots on our board, and there is a place for you! Reach out to pta.wilsonms@gmail.com.

Can you believe there are only 8 more weeks of school to go? We know students have big goals, and we want to encourage you to reach out to any staff member as needed to support those goals!

Things to Remember:

  • 4th Quarter Attendance: Email wilsonattendance@nisdtx.org to alert us to any 4th quarter absences. Some students have attendance hours to make up to earn class credit per the Texas Education Agency's guidelines (grade level assistant principals will make contact).

  • 4th Quarter Grades: Students who are at risk of failing the semester will receive information about summer school to make up credits (counselors will make contact).

Students, do you need help to finish the semester strong? Be sure to reach out to your teacher to schedule time before or after school.

Families - please ask students to show you their grades in Home Access Center about once a week and be looking for teacher emails that may be alerting you to areas of needed support or positive student shout outs!

Our school dances/activity nights are organized by our Student Council (STUCO) with the help of our PTA and other volunteers. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Before

    • What can we wear? While students may dress up or be more casual, NISD Student Dress Code will be the expectation for all attire. The goal is to be comfortable and able to participate in all activities.

    • What do we bring? Your NISD student badge, ticket, and any cash for concessions. Tickets will be on sale beginning in May.

    • Can anyone attend? Current Wilson students can attend with the purchase of a ticket and their student fines paid off. Families receive emails from noreply@intouchreceipting.com throughout the year if a fine exists. Individuals can pay in person in the front office or online via a link in the email.

  • During

    • Can my parent come with me? Only approved adult volunteers, coordinated by the PTA, will be allowed in the building during the event.

    • What can we do? STUCO organizes an awesome night of dancing, karaoke, gym games, board games, and more! PTA sets up an amazing concession stand too! For behavior, remember our ACE Creed: "Character Above Reproach". NISD Student Code of Conduct is the expectation for the event. Parents or guardians may be called for an early pick up if needed.

  • After

    • When do I get picked up? Students are released to the back parking lot near the cafetorium for car rider pick up or as walkers. There is no "in and out", so once a student exits the cafetorium, they are headed home. 6th and 7th graders should plan to be picked up by 8:30 and 8th graders by 8:45 pm.

Campus Routines

Beyond Free and Reduced Lunch...

While school day meals are free this year for middle school students, alerting the district that you qualify for free and reduced meals also helps your student have access to other programs such as weekend food assistance (Snack Packs), Angel Tree, and other services! This is an annual qualification process. Click the video for how to submit your application.

Follow that Bus with the MyView tracking app (available on the iOS App Store and Google Play). If you are experiencing issues with the app, please make sure that you are using the updated code – NW2021. You may also need to uninstall and reinstall the app with the code NW2021

The district and campus continue to utilize text messaging as a way to communicate with families and staff about important dates and events. If you have not received any NISD texts, opt in and receive messages by texting Y to 67587.

Campus COVID Information

So I received a notification letter from the district...now what?

    • Does this mean my child was a "close contact"? No, it means they shared a class or group activity with a positive individual. Per current NISD protocols, you can choose to send your child to school while monitoring for symptoms.

    • Does my student have to quarantine? Not necessarily. Please refer to ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES available here when deciding whether a student should attend school. Alert the attendance office so they can note the reason for the absence.

    • Does my student need a test? Not necessarily. If they have not been exposed and are not displaying any symptoms, families may elect not to test. If a student is experiencing specific symptoms while on campus, they may be tested in the clinic. (see School Health Clinic Procedures for more information). Click here for Testing Locations in your County.

    • My letter says my child shares three classes. What does that mean...3 people or 1 person in 3 classes? It means that your child shares 3 classes with 1 person who tested positive. It does indicate the frequency of potential contact. You would get one letter for each case in that class and each letter shows how many classes they share with the individual.

If Symptoms Appear While on Campus

School Health Clinic Procedures (as of 9.2.21):

  • Temperature and symptoms will be checked in the clinic to determine whether isolation is indicated. A student’s medical history will be considered when determining whether a student should be excluded.

  • Parents of students who are sent to the clinic for COVID symptoms during school hours will have the option to have their student screened for COVID. Parent permission is required and the Consent for COVID Testing form must be completed. The access code for Wilson is ZGM7S4.

  • Students who present to the clinic with symptoms that could be COVID or another influenza-like-illness may be offered a face covering or mask, if they cannot be isolated from others and for the health and safety of others, until a parent or guardian can take them home.

  • When indicated, a student will be isolated from others until picked up by a parent or guardian in the campus clinic and should be picked up within 30 minutes and no later than 1 hour from the time the campus contacted the student’s parent or guardian.
