Week ending

Friday 1st March, 2024

Dear Families,

We have continued exploring our topic about contrasting countries, focusing on The Amazon Rain forest. We discussed the curious question, 'What is it like around the Amazon River?'  comparing it to the River Thames. The children made collages of the Amazon River using tissue paper, paint, glitter and even added in their own pink river dolphin to complete the scene!

We operated bee bots by programming instructions to make them move in different directions and looked at groups of 5; enjoying lots of 5 songs such as 5 little speckled frogs and 5 currant buns.

Perhaps we brought on the rain this week because we have been creating our own rain makers! Even though it has been raining, we have still enjoyed our outdoor space exploring how water flows just like a river, looking for Amazon animals and going on the occasional bear hunt!

What a fantastic world book day we had! We dressed up and read lots of stories. Please feel free to continue to bring in story books for us to read with the class.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,

Best wishes,

The Nursery Team

Down in the Amazon (Tune of down in the jungle)

Down in the Amazon where nobody goes,

With a rub-a-dub here and a rub-a-dub there

That's the way he washes his clothes

Tiddly-i-i-a-boogie woogie woogie x3

That's the way he washes his clothes!

Repeat with green anaconda and finally snapping caiman
