Week ending

Friday 8th December, 2023

Dear Families,

We have ramped up our festive celebrations this week as we begun our topic on 'Christmas'. Our curious question of the week is 'What is Christmas'? and the children have really enjoyed all of creating stars, trees and star-shaped shortbread. We've begun to explore Pattern within our maths learning and have created our own wrapping paper.

Next week, we have our Festive concert within the Nursery Classroom on Thursday 14th Decemeber at 11am. The children are super excited to show off their marvellous singing skills! They will be performing a few Christmas songs, followed by a stay-and-play where you can join in with some festive activities. As this is our Christmas Jumper day, too, please encourage your child to wear something festive. It can be a green or red top (not necessarily a Christmas jumper if you don’t have one) or anything sparkly or party like!

Reminder: School closed at 2pm on Wednesday 20th December for the Christmas Holidays.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

The Nursery Team

We've been exploring repeating patterns using our body (clap, stamp, clap, stamp) and using colour patterns (red, green, red, green).

Why not extend this at home by exploring size patterns!

Activities to try at home this weekend

Make some Christmas decorations for your Christmas tree using salt dough. How about making some as Christmas gifts for your family?

You can follow the recipe below.

Noticeboard

We are delighted to invite you to our Nursery Christmas Concert on Thursday 14th December 2023 between 10:30 - 11:00am.  This will take place in the Nursery Classroom.

Our afternoon Nursery children are invited to attend school in the morning session as a one-off, as there will be only one concert. You can stay afterwards for some festive crafts and to read with your child if you wish, as there will be no Family Friday.

If  your child turns 4 years old before 1st September 2024, you will need to apply for a Reception place through the website above (even if you already attend our Nursery at Woodberry Down).

The portal will close at the end of this month and any applications after that date will not guarantee your child their preferred place.

If you need help with your application, please ask a member of the Nursery Team.

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the school office on 020 8800 5758 or email the team on wdoffice@newwavefederation.co.uk
