Week ending

Friday 15th March, 2024

Happy Friday!

This week our curious question has been 'What is a life cycle'? To answer this question we have looked at the life cycle of a caterpillar and represented this using rice krispies, pipe cleaners, tissue paper and drawings of our own butterflies. After reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' we retold the story using puppets, pictures and used playdough, as drawing caterpillars focusing on the shape of a circle.  We have challenged ourselves making pasta caterpillar bracelets and even tried to make patterned ones!  Our design skills have helped us to construct and build a fabulous bug hotel, which we hope lots of bugs will visit throughout the following weeks.

In Maths we enjoyed exploring capacity using the key words 'Full' and 'empty' why not have a try at home perhaps when having a bath using containers to fill with water.

Thank you all for your generous donations and bringing the children dressed up in their PJ's for Red Nose Day!

Wishing you a lovely weekend,

Best wishes,

The Nursery Team

Capacity

We shown the concept of full and empty by pouring and filling containers with water, sand and pasta! Why not try this at home using the language of full and empty to describe the bath, food and drinks over dinner or even using water bottles!

Activities to try at home this weekend

Based on the Physical Development workshop, why not try some or all of these ideas over the weekend? We would love to know how you got on!

BABY PHOTO REQUEST!

Please bring in baby photos over the week so we can used them to enhance our learning and the children can have a personal understanding about human life cycles. We will photocopy the photos and return the originals.

Thank you for your continued support!

Please continue to remind your children to share how they are feeling with an adult while they are in Nursery, especially if a friend has been unkind so we can sort out any issues promptly

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the school office on 020 8800 5758 or email the team on wdoffice@newwavefederation.co.uk
