Week ending

Friday 3rd November, 2023

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to the new Autumn term and what a busy week it has been! This week our curious question has been 'How do we celebrate Bonfire night?' We have had a wonderful time finding out the answer by making a bonfire snack of salted pepper corn on the cobs, painting fireworks and watching a fireworks display online!

We have also explored signs of Autumn by looking at the weather, collecting signs of Autumn such as leave, conkers and acorns as well as creating a den for hedgehogs we made out of play dough! For our role play area outside we have been Percy the park keeper looking after all the animals throughout the cold and wet Autumn!

Well done to all the Nursery children for attempting to write their names and mark make with more intent and meaning, you showed real perseverance and really tried to challenge yourselves.

In Maths we have been exploring patterns by making Autumn leaf crowns, take a look at all our fantastic efforts this week!

Have a brilliant weekend and please share any photos if you are planning any firework related activities.

Best wishes,

The Nursery Team.

Activities to try at home this weekend

Pattern power!

Why not try to make your own Autumn pattern crown out of real leaves and bring them in to show the class?

Please continue to collect signs of Autumn such as leaves, twigs and conkers when you go on walks.

           Fireworks!

Please take pictures if you are going to see any firework display this weekend. Talk about your experiences so your child can share them with the class.

Noticeboard

Independent toileting

Please continue to teach your child at home how to use the toilet on their own, including pulling down and pulling up their own clothing and wiping themselves.

We strongly encourage you not to give your child a nappy or pull-up at night. Alternatively, buy a waterproof sheet and make sure your child does not drink anything just before they go to bed.

Well done to all of you who have recently been working so hard on toileting! We have seen fantastic progress!

Coats

As the weather gets progressively colder and wetter, we ask you to please make sure your child brings a coat to school. Again, PLEASE label all your child's clothing, especially school uniform. You can purchase a relatively cheap permanent laundry marker from Amazon.

If your child is still finding it tricky to put their coat on independently, how about trying the above "push and whoosh!" method? Please encourage your child to be as independent as possible.

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the school office on 020 8800 5758 or email the team on wdoffice@newwavefederation.co.uk
