Orienteering is a physically active outdoor experience that develops map navigation skills. In collaboration with school teachers in Massachusetts, Navigation Games has created orienteering-based curricula that can be used anywhere and with all ages. In this workshop,
participants will play games, and get to know the Navigation Games introductory school orienteering curriculum. Weather permitting, we may experience an outdoor orienteering course. You will come away from this session with lesson plans, and ideas for bringing orienteering to your students.

Orienteering is a physically active outdoor experience that develops map navigation skills. Participants find checkpoints shown on the map. Orienteering can be used to build teamwork and communication skills, resilience, and confidence in new spaces. In collaboration with school teachers in Massachusetts, Navigation Games has created orienteering-based curricula that can be used anywhere, for all ages. In this workshop, we will present the orienteering curricula at middle and high school levels in Cambridge, MA. You will come away with lesson plans, and with ideas for bringing orienteering to your students.

Orienteering is a physically active outdoor experience that develops map navigation skills. In this session, we will provide actionable information about how to bring orienteering into your school and district, at the elementary school level. Attendees will learn about resources including lesson plans, map-making grants from Orienteering USA, professional development grants, and opportunities to learn more about orienteering at public events. We will also demonstrate orienteering activities. Participants will go home with a game plan for implementing this fun outdoor adventure sport at school.
