Do I Need HQ Approval for a Previously Approved Deviation?
The Partnerships Office has communicated that previously approved deviations do not require resubmission for HQ approval. However, each deviation submission is individually reviewed based on its unique circumstances and should still be included in your deviation submission to HQ.
How Do I Search for Previously Approved Deviations?
Previously approved deviations can be located in the Deviations Database. It is recommended to search here before seeking legal concurrence on any proposed language. If previously approved deviations are found directly addressing a specific clause, make note of this in your coordination with JSC legal.
Use the search bar to input keywords, article numbers, or other identifiers to help locate the specific article for which a deviation from standard NASA language is being requested.
Clicking on individual profiles can provide more detailed information about the specific deviation request.
Once you've identified a potential lead, it is advisable to use the document in the Attachments section of the submission profile and include it in your deviation request package to HQ, or simply provide the PAM number. Alternatively, referencing this information in your tracked changes document, as part of your package, is preferred. Any discovered links should be communicated to your assigned attorney and discussed accordingly.
