The plan is designed to set values and priorities that will shape strategies and priorities in Academic Affairs for the next five years.
The Academic will be shaped in part to help achieve goals set out in the Institutional Strategic Plan. It is also being developed to align with or complement other MRU plans, including those from Student Affairs and Campus Life. The Plan is also designed to provide direction for future Faculty Plans, as well as areas such as the International Office and the Office of Research, Scholarship and Community Engagement
The APSC is carefully considering themes in that plan, including material produced its previous Working Groups, to determine what can be brought forward. It is also looking at goals that remain unrealized from the 2007-12 and 2012-17 Academic Plans
The initial themes were based upon background research on previous MRU and other university plans. The Committee has modified them based on feedback from the broader MRU community. These may change as the Plan develops.
You can offer feedback via this website.
Feedback garnered from visits to departments/faculty councils/administrative units, as well as that submitted to this website and sent in by email will be brought back to the steering committee. You can also provide feedback on this website.
Look for Committee updates to the MRU community to provide details on what themes are emerging and how they are being integrated into the Plan. We also plan to garner feedback from community members through town halls, tables on Main Street and Wykham House. Informal meetings in the MRFA Faculty Center and the MRSA Cougar Lounge are also planned.
There are three town hall meetings planned next semester on the following dates next semester:
Committee members will be listening to your response to drafts of the plan presented at these meetings.
We anticipate releasing a draft outline in mid-December. Once a full draft of the plan is ready, Steering Committee members will also be gathering feedback on Main Street, at Wyckham, and at the MRFA Faculty Center and MRSA Cougar Lounge. The Committee members will also revisit Faculty Councils in March.
