Ensure Academic Affairs is the driver in the University, including by stating that the Academic Plan is the most important document after the Institutional Strategic Plan in setting directions/priorities
Maintain a strong emphasis on personalized learning within a principled framework around class size
Need to encourage diversity at all levels
Enhance transparency and meaningful communication in decision-making
Reverse erosion in administrative support in Academic Affairs
Increase efforts to have MRU broadly known as a place that encourages innovation, especially in work with students
Emphasize experiential education, applied research, Community Service Learning, and record such activity on a co-curricular record
Build community outreach/connections
Marketing must emphasize the activities of Academic Affairs in external communications
MRU must get into the Maclean’s ranking. Not being there says that we are not a university
Build capacity in two High Impact practices. Don’t try to do all, as it will produce a generally mediocre/poor performance
Increase awareness of and implement approaches to improve student mental health; raise MRU’s results on the National College Health Assessment
Establish excellence in undergraduate research as core to Mount Royal
Establish a coordinator position to facilitate and assist undergraduate research, including in dealing with HREB
Push hard in getting new degrees
Develop space to support sound pedagogy
Aggressively pursue indigenization, ensure that it occurs in a meaningful manner, and is properly resourced
Increase the percentage of full-time professors
If learning outcomes are included, keep them focused on the program/discipline level, rather than institution-wide
Internationalize the curriculum
Seek accreditation with bodies governing standards respecting internationalization
Ensure proper support for an increased international student body
Ensure that expansion of student numbers is accompanied by adequate government funding
