Community Consultations: Faculty Council, Science and Tech
Need to improve Scientific Research Infrastructure, namely areas like new labs, materials, preparatory space, chemical waste processing areas
Need to improve several operational areas/matters, such as technical support for faculty research; animal care protocols and facilities; better funding for modest research projects for both faculty and students
Increase program choice/majors: looking to create BSc in Chemistry, BSc Biology, BSc in Computer Science; BSc in Mathematics, BSc in Neuropsychology
Points out that several programs – Geology, Environmental Science, Computer Science – have high student demand. If there was additional enrollment they could – like Psych, Justice, BBA – take additional students.
Fix General Science and move to direct entry so we lose less students
Implement an advising model where year 1-2 is centralized 3-4 is faculty
More robust remuneration on honours supervision. Such as boxtops that can be traded in for a course release.
