- Need to protect small classes, though the class size to achieve effective learning will vary by areas. Define what "small" means
- Need to have better communications; there has been an erosion of faculty involvement in decision-making
- The current procedures on policy development is inadequate. The 30-day consultation with no warning of what is coming and how it can impact faculty is not effecctive
- Clear and unequivocal statement (in our value section) that we are an undergraduate teaching focused university -- that is our strength and that is what we will remain
- If we are going to endorse high impact teaching practices, choose a couple only to emphasize. Among this group, the choice is Community Service Learning and Undergraduate Research
- Stress that we adhere to values that include Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Transparency
- Adopt a truly open budgeting process so people can understand better the reasons for strategies/decisions
- Stress the need for a higher percentage of full-time professors. Right now, 59% of courses at MRU are taught by contract professors. This also means a higher service load on Full-time colleagues. In that respect, create a new category that can give some term-certains and fixed terms more stability. Could it be the rank of Lecturer
- Produce a more robust array of courses for Spring (belief is that few students would want courses in summer)
- Control the costs of managerial employment
- Provide more meaningful administrative support so professors do not have to devote such a huge chunk if time on this -- like filling out expense reports
