Spoke about the need for strong reputation and brand recognition
Want to see better utilization of resources – weekend, summer.
With regard to Internationalization, this email encapsulates the conversation: “In my last few months of working with MRU, I believe that MRU is doing all the activities ( academic and otherwise) in a systematic, well laid out fashion, much on the lines of what any accreditation body would want us to if we were to make an application shortly. We probably just need a stated, strategic focus on getting accredited. The choice of alternatives for making an application to, can be discussed and developed – from AACSB to the five regional bodies. If we make two, they can be made concurrently as well. Internationalization is the way ahead. I heard the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship today morning in a talk show on the FM Radio, and he spoke of a clear focus on promoting international students to add value to the immigration process in Canada. I have had previous experience in working towards accreditation, through the National Board of Accreditation, NBA, which is the official signatory to the Washington Accord on behalf of India. (Engineers Canada is the corresponding signatory to the Washington Accord on behalf of Canada). http://www.ieagreements.org/Washington-Accord/signatories.cfm At the UoM, where I worked prior to joining MRU, the Asper MBA program worked with the AACSB for their accreditation. http://www.aacsb.edu/accreditation In another of my previous experiences, we worked with PUM senior experts in The Netherlands for developing two way synergies for undergraduate students. PUM is funded and supported by the government of The Netherlands and it connects industry and academia to build synergies for the youth of both participating countries. https://www.pum.nl/partner-us
