On November 5th, 2024, the presidential election occurred in America.
Representing the Democratic Party was current Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris stepped in for current President Joe Biden after his decision to drop out of the candidacy. Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California. She earned her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Prior to becoming vice president and a candidate for the election, Harris served as a U.S. Senator for California from 2017 to 2021. Before her Senate career, Harris was the Attorney General of California. Throughout her political career, Harris has advocated for progressive policies and reforms in areas such as the economy and healthcare.

The Republican Party’s candidate was former President Donald Trump. Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York. He graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. After his education, Trump worked in business, taking over his father’s real estate company. Before his presidency in 2016, Trump had gained public recognition as a businessman and host of the reality TV show The Apprentice. During his presidency and political career, Trump has focused on conservative policies, including deregulation, tax cuts, and reducing immigration.
After voting closed on election day, President-elect Donald Trump was declared the unofficial winner of the 2024 presidential election. Trump reached the required 270 electoral votes, with 312 compared to Harris’s 226. President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will take office on January 21, 2025.
