Engagement Survey - Your Feedback is Welcome and Appreciated!

Your opinion matters. Millard Public Schools seeks to have engaged stakeholders to meet its mission. Strategy 1.2 (2018) calls for a survey to determine engagement of all stakeholders (students, families, staff, and community).

Please take 10 minutes to provide us with your candid input. Your answers will be anonymous. If you have students in multiple buildings, you will receive a different link from each school. The survey window will remain open through November 17th.

Join us Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 in the Cafeteria/Gym for some family time drinking hot cocoa and making winter crafts. Parents with Heart is partnering with The Makery this year and are excited to offer door hangers, string art, and a shelf sitter to make during our time together.

To pre-order your items from The Makery, please visit our personalized ordering site to place your order by Friday, November 17th > http://www.themakeryomaha.com/new-events/kits. Once you have placed your order, please send a check to school with your student for your pre-order with "Winter Craft Night order" in the memo line.

In addition, we will be offering additional crafts on site for $2-3 each on the night of the event. These crafts will be offered until we run out, but we plan to have at least 50 items on hand for purchase (cash or check only) and will be limited to 3 per family.

We are excited to see everyone come together for crafting and hot cocoa!

Previously Shared Information That Is Still Relevant

WiFi Access for Students

We have some exciting news to share with you. Nebraska was selected as one of only three states to pilot a K-12 global Wi-Fi program. Through ConnectEd Nebraska, participating teachers, staff, and students in Nebraska will have anywhere, anytime wireless access at all educational sites in the state and in other eduroam-participating sites throughout the U.S. and other countries. To connect to the Eduroam network use the following steps:

In addition to the many Eduroam Hot Spot Locations around the United States and Globally, MPS has partnered with Cox Communications Locally to provide access to Eduroam Hotspots as part of the Cox Public WiFi environment.  This means anywhere Cox is broadcasting WiFi publicly you will now have access to the Eduroam Network.  This is a first of its kind collaboration between Cox and Eduroam and is being piloted in the Omaha Metro area.

Read more about this pilot program here.

Boy Scouts of America School Presentation

Information for Millard Families:

By new state law, youth organizations chartered by Congress may request time in the school day to address students. One of these organizations is the Boy Scouts of America, and they have asked for time to tell students about scouting.

We will be accommodating their request on Monday, November 13th.

The Boy Scouts will be giving a 3-5 minute presentation. We wanted to make sure all parents and guardians were aware of the visit. If you have questions, please email or call the office.

❄️ Wintery Conditions Are Almost Here - Reagan Recess Guidelines ❄️

Grade-level teachers and the office staff will determine whether students will go out for recess based on precipitation, wind chill, and temperature.  We will plan for outside recess if the temperature or wind chill (“feels like”)  is above 0 using weather.com at the time of the recess. This might mean that a grade level that has a recess at 10 AM may stay inside due to wind chill, and then it might warm up in the afternoon to allow for other grade levels to go outside. We will always go outside unless it is actively snowing and the area cannot be cleared in time for a safe recess.

☃️  ☃️  ☃️  ☃️

Please dress students appropriately for the weather each day so they can fully participate. Classroom teachers have communicated with families what students in your child's grade level will be permitted to bring for outside winter play. There are many factors that go into this decision, such as length of recess, students' level of independence getting dressed/undressed, schedule for what is happening before/after recess, etc. Please make sure to take note of your child's grade level decision through their weekly communication/newsletter. Thank you for your partnership and cooperation in advance.
