#Be Kind
February 17, 2023
Cottonwood Families,
Conferences:
It was great to see so many of you at conferences. We appreciate you taking the time to support the staff regarding the education of your child(ren). It really does take a village. Thank you also to the parents who provided the staff with dinner for conferences. It was delicious and very thoughtful!
Valentine’s Party
Thanks to all the parents who volunteered their time to host the parties. The students had a blast! We have such a great community!
Traffic Reminders
I know that the traffic at pick up can be really tricky. Please make sure that you are obeying the traffic signs regarding the one-way. There have been many close calls and I don't want anyone to get hurt. The traffic is also negatively impacting our neighbors. Here are some helpful reminders to keep things running more smoothly.
Cross only at the crosswalks; do not cross between cars.
Do not park your car on the curbside and leave your car unattended.
Curbside nearest the school is for loading and unloading students only.
Do not pass cars and cut in front of them if there is space ahead of them.
Continue to pull your vehicle up. Do not sit in one spot to wait. Once the bus has left, we will be directing traffic to move forward up to the blacktop area. We will make sure your student can find you.
If you are waiting for a safety patrol student please continue to move up your vehicle or park in the lot.
Remember that Piedmont Drive becomes a one way after our crosswalk not before. Do not pass cars along the curb as traffic may be coming your way from the other side.
Make sure you are stopping at the stop sign on 154th and Piedmont. Even though it is a one way after the designated times. Traffic still needs to stop before turning left at 154th and Piedmont.

Levy Override Information
Special Election For Continuation of Levy Override
The Millard Board of Education is asking our community to continue the levy override authority the district has had since 2018. The levy override has provided financial stability to support the important work of Millard's teachers and staff. State law requires levy overrides to be reauthorized by voters after five years. Millard residents will vote on the continuation of this authority in a special mail-in election on March 14th. More information about the levy override is available on the district website at https://www.mpsomaha.org/millards-levy-override Additionally, the district will host four public information sessions about the levy override. Superintendent Dr. John Schwartz and Chief Financial Officer Chad Meisgeier will give a presentation and be available for questions. The information sessions will be as follows:
Monday, January 16th, 6 p.m. at the Don Stroh Administration Center, 5606 South 147th Street, Omaha, NE 68137
Tuesday, January 24th, 6 p.m. at Millard North High School, 1010 South 144th Street, Omaha, NE 68154

Parent Pride:
A Parent Volunteer Group
The Parent Pride, a parent volunteer group, is an integral part of the Cottonwood community. Each year this group of volunteers help to organize and fund raise for the events and activities that take place at Cottonwood. There are no membership dues so we depend on donations or participation of our fund-raising events. We hope that you will consider volunteering your time to support one of these events. Please remember to check our weekly newsletter for other volunteer opportunities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Gina Rudloff at 402-715-1390 or gkrudloff@mpsomaha.org. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up below.
