At TJC, we aim to expose and stretch outstanding students to reach out and make a difference to others in College, the community and the environment. TJC continues to nurture trailblazers with a heart and leverages opportunities for our students to develop as agents of positive societal change. As part of our student leadership curriculum, TJCians have many opportunities to lead in projects that will benefit the College and the wider community.
YMCA Youth For Causes 2022
Youth For Causes (YFC) is a community initiative by YMCA that provides youths with seed funding and a platform to execute self-initiated projects to raise public awareness and funds as well as mobilise volunteers for social service agencies (SSAs) of their choice.
In 2022, a record number of 17 TJC YFC Teams were successfully selected to receive seed funding from YMCA and embark on their projects in support of SSAs such as Lions Befrienders, SPCA and Make A Wish Foundation.
We are also heartened to share that five of our 2022 YFC teams clinched the Merit Award following the completion of their projects in November 2022. Comprising both IP4 and JC1 students, Project o---o, Team Carebears, Team Koi, Team Lucid and Team Wild collectively raised more than $40,000 for the Singapore Heart Foundation, Ren Ci Hospital, YMCA, Singapore Association for Mental Health and ACRES.
