H2 Further Mathematics is designed for students who are mathematically-inclined and who wish to further expand and deepen their knowledge of mathematics and its applications. Students will develop advanced mathematical thinking and reasoning skills and learn a wider range of mathematical methods and tools. This will give a head-start to students who plan to study mathematics or mathematics-related university courses such as science and engineering in the form of a stronger and richer foundation in mathematics.
H2 Further Mathematics is to be taken with H2 Mathematics as ‘double mathematics’. Students must also pass a selection test for Further Mathematics.
Click here for more information on the subject 'Mathematics' offered in Temasek Junior College.
At Temasek JC, we offer a suite of 4 syllabuses, namely H1 Mathematics, H2 Mathematics, H2 Further Mathematics and H3 Mathematics. The suite is designed for different profiles of students, to provide them with options to learn mathematics at different levels, and to varying breadth, depth or specialisation so as to support their progression to their desired choice of university courses. For instance, students who are keen to pursue engineering could offer ‘double mathematics’, that is, H2 Mathematics and H2 Further Mathematics.
We align our teaching approaches with our vision of innovative teachers who develop problem-solvers with a passion for Mathematics. Our teachers are kept up-to-date with current developments in math education locally and world-wide. We constantly refresh our teaching strategies so that students grow in passion for the subject, deepen their Mathematics knowledge and improve their problem-solving skills.
In addition to the various oppportunities to take part in a wide variety of competitions, both world-wide and local, students could also have a taste of doing research by taking part in research programmes, e.g. Research Mentoring Programme organized by SUTD and Research Attachment Programme by A*STAR.
